She doesn’t have consistent employment, but picks up odd jobs here and there as it suits her. As a result, her financial state is very unstable, she can have extra cash from jobs one week and be without money for food the next.
Recently, Angela attempted to summon a powerful phoenix in hopes of impressing some of her acquaintances. Although she was able to summon and form a contract with the spirit, her will is not strong enough to maintain control of a spirit that powerful. The phoenix exhibits a strong form of pyromania often seeking to burn down its surroundings in “cleansing fire”, believing something new will be reborn from the ashes. The only restraints on the phoenix's actions is it can only manifest nearAngela, and it always uses up most of its power in its bouts of destruction. As a result of this uncontrolled expenditure of energy, the phoenix dematerializes and goes dormant for a few weeks to regain power after every cleansing.
Prior to the summoning Angela loved to socialize with her neighbours, and was always involved in community events. However, she has become withdrawn after contracting the phoenix, as she is afraid of the phoenix awakening and harming the people around her. Angela is working on learning to anticipate when the phoenix will awake and travel to an area where the fire will cause the least damage. However, the phoenix is also starting to use their bond to attempt to influence Angela into going into densely populated areas when it is getting ready to act.
Angela has considered hiring a professional summoner to break the contract or going to either police or military for help. However, the ritual work necessary for breaking a contract is expensive, and Angela can’t afford it. As for going to the police or military,she suspects that either group will put her to death (though the police may be the more understanding of the two), and Angela is not sure she is ready to die.
